A late goal by Charleston's Ben Hollingsworth earned the Battery a 1-1 draw with Vancouver Thursday night and stole away a Whitecaps victory.
Vancouver opened the scoring in the 30th minute on a header from Eduardo Sebrango.
The Battery responded in second half injury time to deny the Whitecaps a much-needed victory.
A win would have given Vancouver (10-6-10) sole possession of second place ahead of the idle Rochester Raging Rhinos. Instead, both teams sit tied in the USL first division standings with 40 points, but the Rhinos have two games in hand.
Vancouver's next game is on Sept. 8 at home to the Seattle Sounders.
