Argentine manager Miguel Angel Lopez assumed control of Atletico Junior of Barranquilla on Monday, the sixth time he has been appointed to run the team in 28 years.
Lopez replaces Montenegrin Dragan Miranovic, who was dismissed as manager of the Tiburon after it lost 1-0 to America de Cali on Sunday, its second loss in three games and third round without a victory. The club dropped to ninth place with 16 points from 12 matches, eight points behind league-leading Tolima.
Club president Antonio Char Chaljub announced the firing of Miranovic and appointment of Lopez, who was manager of Junior in 1978, 1988-89, 1992, 1998 and 2004, the year the club won the league's first-half title.
Miranovic becomes the 10th manager to be fired in the second half of the Copa Mustang, as the Colombian league championship is known, and the 25th this year.
