Vaughn Chipeur wins bronze medal at German skating event

Vaughn Chipeur of Edmonton won a bronze medal in figure skating's Nebelhorn Trophy on Friday.

Tomas Verner of the Czech Republic nailed a quadruple toe-loop to win gold. Verner, who also led after the short program, earned 194.46 points to finish first. Parker Pennington of the United States was second with 187.82, while Chipeur scored 167.04 for the bronze.

In the women's event, Amanda Billings of Calgary was second after the short program with a score of 46.77. Bebe Liang of the United States led with 53.89 points, while Arina Martinova of Russia had 46.03 in third.
