South Africa winger Bryan Habana was ruled out injured from meeting Australia in the last Tri-Nations rugby Test on Saturday.
``Bryan is out with concussion,'' coach Jake White told the South African Press Association at Tuesday's practice.
Habana scored a try in the 21-20 upset of champion New Zealand last Saturday in Rustenberg, and White was considering using his absence this weekend to introduce Sharks fullback JP Pietersen at Ellis Park.
Pietersen's national under-21 teammates Chiliboy Ralepelle and Pierre Spies have made their debuts in the tournament, and White hinted at re-jigging his backline to accommodate Pietersen.
Wynand Olivier would move from centre to Habana's left wing spot, and Jaque Fourie, who played fullback last weekend, would reunite with Jean de Villiers in midfield.
``There are opportunities with backs that have just joined us and it is nice that we can try a thing or two this Saturday,'' White said. ``Josh Lewsey plays centre for Wasps and wing for England. Look at Lote Tuqiri, who has played at centre and wing for Australia.
``Where the backs are playing now is one of the secrets of rugby going forward no matter what number you play _ you can interchange the backs but you have to make sure you have the right options.''
Prop Os du Randt didn't practise on Tuesday, but White said the 69-cap veteran was recovering from a scrape to the head and other bumps from last weekend's victory, which ended a five-match losing streak.
``Os has just a bump, the tractor is just a bit tired. He will play,'' White said.
He will name his Springboks side on Wednesday.
