Ireland names three rookies in side to play Pacific Islanders

Ireland coach Eddie O'Sullivan named three rookies in his team Wednesday to play the Pacific Islanders as part of nine overall changes.

Back-rowers Stephen Ferris and Jamie Heaslip and 19-year-old winger Luke Fitzgerald will make their debuts Sunday at Lansdowne Road.

Ireland is seeking a clean sweep of its November internationals. It beat Australia 21-6 on Saturday and South Africa 32-15 on Nov. 11.

Fullback Girvan Dempsey comes in for Geordan Murphy, while Shane Horgan switches to insider centre from the right wing to replace Gordon D'Arcy.

Paddy Wallace makes his first start for Ireland at fly half, demoting Ronan O'Gara to the bench. Peter Stringer starts at scrum half instead of Isaac Boss.

In the forwards, Frankie Sheahan replaces Rory Best at hooker, Malcolm O'Kelly makes his first start since last season's Six Nations is picked over Donncha O'Callaghan.

Simon Easterby starts at blindside flanker instead of Neil Best, with Heaslip at No. 8 and Ferris at openside flanker. No. 7 David Wallace drops out the squad, but No. 6 Denis Leamy is on the bench.
