First, Brad Coleman kept getting sent back to the pits. Then he found himself driving through the infield.
Then, finally, he smacked the wall one more time and went to the hospital.
And it all happened in the first 45 laps of Saturday's Busch Series race, the Yellow Transportation 300.
Coleman was given a pass-through penalty for jumping the flag at the start of the race. He went into pit road too fast and was assessed another pass-through.
Then, in the 26th lap, Coleman caught the wall in turn four and went through the infield _ right across the logo for Sunday's Nextel Cup race, the Banquet 400.
He recovered and got back in the race _ only to hit the wall coming out of the second turn in the 45th lap. That brought out a red flag that halted the race for almost five minutes.
Coleman was taken to a local hospital for overnight observation, but officials at the infield care centre said he was ``alert, oriented and stable.''
