Japan and China switch places in 2007 Formula One calendar

Japan and China have swapped places in the 2007 Formula One calendar.

The two races will still be held a week apart, FIA said Wednesday, but the Japanese Grand Prix is scheduled for Sept. 30 and the Chinese race is set for Oct. 7. The changes are subject to confirmation, however.

This season, the Chinese race was on Oct. 1, and Japan's on Oct. 8.

The 2007 calendar still has 17 races. There has been no agreement on an 18th race, despite previous speculation that the San Marino race would make the schedule.

Also Wednesday, the council decided that teams can only use two cars in a single practice session and an individual tire supplier must provide ``identical quantities and specifications'' to all teams.
