CALGARY (CP) _ The Calgary Roughnecks signed forward Jeff Shattler to a one-year contract on Friday.
The Roughnecks acquired Shattler last month in a trade with the Buffalo Bandits. Shattler, 22, had one assist in his only game with the Bandits last season.
The six-foot 185-pound native of Brampton, Ont., was selected by the Bandits in the first round (10th overall) of the 2005 National Lacrosse League entry draft.
``Jeff is excited about his opportunity to play in this league,'' Roughnecks GM Kurt Silcott said in a statement. ``He has all the attributes to have a very successful career here in Calgary as a member of the Roughnecks.''
Shattler currently plays for the Brampton Excelsiors of the Ontario Lacrosse Association Senior A league. He has recorded 44 points (18-26) in 17 games this season.
