Michael Grabner and Derek Ryan scored in the
shootout as the Spokane Chiefs defeated the Kelowna Rockets 3-2 in
Western Hockey League action Saturday.
Troy Ofukany and Colin Long scored for Kelowna (2-6-0-2). Long's
goal came with 7.6 seconds remaining in the third period and forced
overtime.
The Rockets led 1-0 after the first and second periods but went
0-2 in the shootout. Judd Blackwater and Mitch Wahl scored for
Spokane (5-2-1-0), which converted both its shootout shots. Chris
Langkow helped set up Wahl's goal, a power-play marker midway
through the third that made it 2-1 for the visitors.
Dustin Tokarski made 31 saves for the Chiefs. Rookie Torrie Jung
turned aside 29 shots for the Rockets.
