Defenceman Logan Pyett scored twice as the
Regina Pats edged the Saskatoon Blades 3-2 in Western Hockey League
action Saturday.
Pyett blasted a 45-footer through traffic six minutes into the
first that Blades goalie Brayden Holtby never saw.
He later caught the far side on Holtby just 26 seconds into the
third on another long shot.
Brett Leffler wired a sharp angle shot eight minutes into the
second that caught the far corner as the Pats (3-3-0-0) carried a
3-0 lead into the third period.
Ryan Menei, with his fifth goal in five games, spoiled Regina
netminder Linden Rowat's shutout bid at 15:04 of the third as he
walked in alone.
Saskatoon (2-3-0-0) pulled Holtby with 2:10 left and were
rewarded when Michael MacAngus scored with 27 second left to make it
close.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak by the Pats. Regina was
two for 12 on the power play while killing off all five shorthanded
situations.
Rowat faced 26 shots while the Pats fired 36 at Holtby.
