Dean Ouellet scored three goals plus a pair of assists as the
Cape Breton Screaming Eagles routed the Victoriaville Tigres 8-1 in
the QMJHL on Wednesday night.
Cam Fergus had a goal and three assists for the Screaming Eagles,
who didn't score in the opening period, but fired four goals past
Tigres goalie Jean-Christophe Blanchard in each of the remaining
frames.
Stephane Hains was behind the Victoriaville bench in place of
head coach Martin Bernard, who's with his wife awaiting the birth of
their second child.
Ondrej Pavelec blocked 30 shots in net to earn his fifth win of
the season for the Screaming Eagles
In other QMJHL games Wednesday, it was: Saint John 5, Halifax 4
(SO); and Shawinigan 5, Rouyn-Noranda 4 (SO).
At Sydney, N.S., Chris Culligan, Oskars Bartulis, Brendon
MacDonald and Nick MacNeil also scored for Cape Breton (6-5-0),
which scored five goals on eight power-play opportunities.
Morten Madsen had the goal for Victoriaville (5-4-0).
Cataractes 5, Huskies 4 (SO)
At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Charles Milette scored the lone goal in
an 11-round shootout as Shawinigan defeated the Huskies.
Cedric Lalonde-McNicoll, Tommy Gauthier, Charles Milette and
Jean-Philippe Paquet scored in regulation for Shawinigan (8-2-0-2),
which moved a point ahead of Gatineau for top spot in the West
Division.
Tyler Whitehead had a pair of goals for Rouyn-Noranda (5-6-0-1),
with Hugo Carpentier and Yannick Riendeau adding singles.
Cataractes goalie Marc-Andre Perron stopped 48 shots, including
all 11 in the shootout, while Jean-Philippe Levasseur made 29 saves
in regulation and overtime plus 10 in the one-on-one tiebreaker.
Sea Dogs 5, Mooseheads 4 (SO)
At Halifax, Jonathan Laberge had the only goal in the shootout as
Saint John downed the Mooseheads.
David MacDonald, Christopher DiDomenico, Dave Bouchard and Ryan
Sparling also scored for Saint John (4-4-1-1).
Ryan Hillier, with two, Daniel Smith and James Pouliot replied
for Halifax (5-4-0-1).
