Rimouski nabs second win of season with late rally in 7 5 win over Baie Comeau

The Rimouski Oceanic used some late-game heroics to nab their second win of the season Saturday.

The Oceanic scored five goals in the third period _ three coming in the final five minutes _ to earn a 7-5 victory over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in QMJHL action.

Marc-Andre Laroche tied the game at 15:04 in the final period, Michael Frolik scored the winner at 16:33 and Maxime Gratchev cemented the victory with 40 seconds left.

Rimouski's last victory came on Sept. 17, a 6-5 decision over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

Elsewhere in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Saturday, it was: Shawinigan 4, Chicoutimi 3 (OT); Halifax 3, St. John's 2; Acadie-Bathurst 5, Cape Breton 4 (OT); Quebec 3, Victoriaville 2; and Rouyn-Noranda 5, Drummondville 4 (SO).

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Gratchev finished with two goals, while Olivier Fortier also scored twice for the Oceanic (2-10-3-0), who trailed 2-0 after the first and 3-2 after the second. Kevin Cormier also scored for Rimouski.

Etienne Morier, Alexandre Picard-Hooper, Joakim Jensen, Charles-Antoine Messier and Pierre-Cedrick Labrie had one apiece for the Drakkar (9-4-0-1).

Cataractes 4, Sagueneens 3 (OT)

At Chicoutimi, Que., Simon Lacroix scored the game winner at 1:45 of overtime as Shawinigan slipped by the Sagueneens.

Tommy Gauthier scored twice for the Cataractes (10-3-0-3), while Danick Bouchard had one.

Antoine Roussel, David Desharnais and Jeff Christison scored one goal each for Chicoutimi (4-9-2-1).

Mooseheads 3, Fog Devils 2

At Halifax, Jakub Voracek scored with 15 seconds left in the third period to lead the Mooseheads over St. John's.

Ryan Seymour and Luciano Lomanno added one each for Halifax (7-5-1-1), which trailed 2-0 after the second period.

Matt Fillier and Luke Gallant put away one apiece for the Fog Devils (5-8-0-1).

Titan 5, Screaming Eagles 4 (OT)

At Bathurst, N.B., Maxime Pomerleau put away the winner 53 seconds into overtime as the Titan downed Cape Breton.

Kevin Gadoury, Thomas Beauregard, Mathieu Perreault and Mathieu Labrie added for Acadie-Bathurst (6-7-0-0).

James Sheppard, Chris Culligan, Oskars Bartulis and Cam Fergus scored for the Screaming Eagles (8-7-1-0).

Remparts 3, Tigres 2

At Quebec City, Ruslan Bashkirov's goal at 16:35 of the first period stood as the winner as the Remparts defeated Victoriaville.

Brent Aubin and Todd Chinova added for the Remparts (9-6-0-0).

Maxim Noreau scored the Tigres' (6-6-0-0) first goal midway through the third and Adam Ross scored 10 minutes later.

Huskies 5, Voltigeurs 4 (SO)

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Jeff Desjardins scored three goals, including the shootout winner, as the Huskies eked by Drummondville.

Michael Dubuc and Dylan Quaile added one each for Rouyn-Noranda (9-6-0-1).

Tomas Zohorna, Etienne Bellavance-Martin, Tomas Svoboda and Jonathan Duchesneau replied for the Voltigeurs (6-7-0-2).
