Five different Ottawa 67's players scored their first goals of
the season Friday night.
Thomas Kiriakou, Kyle Jukosky, Cody Lindsay, Joe Pleckaitis and
Elgin Reid all notched their first of the season as the Ottawa 67's
defeated the Kingston Frontenacs 8-4 in Ontario Hockey League action
Friday.
``It bodes well for us,'' 67's coach and general manager Brian
Kilrea said of the five first-time scorers.
``Our kid line gave us some great shifts and the Jukosky kid that
we picked up, he just worked and I think he stimulated a few other
guys.''
Elsewhere in OHL action Friday, it was: Plymouth 6, Brampton 3;
Guelph 4, Mississauga 1; Toronto 6, Kitchener 3; Owen Sound 5,
London 2; Sault Ste. Marie 4, Belleville 2; Sudbury 5, Peterborough
2; Erie 6, Oshawa 5 (SO); and Sarnia 5, Saginaw 2.
At Ottawa, Jamie McGinn scored twice and Jakub Vojta once for the
67's (4-5-0-0). Reid also had two assists as did Jesse Biduke.
Bobby Hughes, Michael Kolarz, Peder Skinner and Bobby Nyholm
replied for the Frontenacs (3-6-0-1), who were outshot 43-29
including 13-5 in the second period when the 67's outscored them
4-0.
Jason Guy was making his first start in goal for the Frontenacs
after being acquired in a trade with the Guelph Storm earlier in the
week.
Jukosky was making his first start for the 67's after being
claimed off waivers from the Belleville Bulls, also earlier in the
week.
Brady Morrison collected the win for Ottawa with 43 saves.
Whalers 6, Battalion 3
At Plymouth, Mich., Tom Sestito topped off his hat trick with an
empty net goal as the Whalers beat Brampton.
Storm 4, IceDogs 1
At Guelph, Ont., Mike McLean put away two as the Storm downed
Mississauga.
Majors 6, Kitchener 3
At Kitchener, Ont., Matt Caria and Justin Donati both scored hat
tricks as the Majors beat the Rangers.
Attack 5, London 2
At London, Ont., Joshua Bailey got a goal and three assists as
Owen Sound handed the Knights a 5-2 loss, London's second of the
season.
Greyhounds 4, Bulls 2
At Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Cody Thornton scored twice as the
Greyhounds defeated Belleville.
Wolves 5 Peterborough 2
At Sudbury, Ont., Devin DiDiomete nabbed three points, including
two goals, as the Wolves downed Peterborough.
Otters 6, Generals 5 (SO)
At Oshawa, Ont., Ryan O'Marra and Sean O'Conner both scored
shootout goals for Erie as they defeated the Generals.
Sting 5, Spirit 2
At Sarnia, Ont., Trevor Kell registered two goals and an assist
as the Sting beat the Spirit.
