Early goals from Biduke and Nesbitt lead 67's over Storm 4 1

It only took a little over a minute for the Ottawa 67's to beat the Guelph Storm.

Jesse Biduke and rookie Thomas Nesbitt scored 18 seconds apart in the opening moments of the game as Ottawa beat Guelph 4-1 in Ontario Hockey League action Sunday.

Biduke stuffed a rebound past Jason Guy just 53 seconds into the game and Nesbitt added to the lead at the 1:11 mark. That was all Ottawa would need after Swiss rookie Lukas Flueler made 33 saves in goal to record his first OHL victory.

``It's very important that we had a good start because in the last (few) games, we had a bad start then it's very hard to fight in the game _ for a goaltender, too,'' said Flueler.

Elsewhere in OHL action Sunday, it was: Brampton 3, Sarnia 1; Saginaw 8, Kingston 1; Oshawa 5, Sudbury 4 (SO); Toronto 7, Erie 5; Mississauga 9, Peterborough 1; and London 5, Kitchener 4 (SO).

At Ottawa, Flueler lost his shutout bid when Jamie Arniel scored on the power play with 5:34 to go, one of nine chances Guelph had with the extra man.

Biduke, Arron Alphonso and Brett Liscomb each had a goal and an assist as the 67's (3-5-0-0) snapped a three-game losing streak while sending the Storm (5-4-1-1) to its second loss in as many days.

Ottawa went 0-for-4 on the power play.

Guy made 31 saves in the loss.

Battalion 3, Sting 1

At Brampton, Ont., Brad Albert's power-play goal at 16:19 in the second period stood as the winner as the Battalion beat the Sting.

Spirit 8, Frontenacs 1

At Kingston, Ont., Tom Pyatt grabbed a hat trick as Saginaw trounced the Frontenacs.

Generals 5, Wolves 4 (SO)

At Sudbury, Ont., Vaclav Meidl scored the shootout winner as Oshawa slipped by the Wolves.

Majors 5, Otters 5

At Toronto, Micheal Haley scored a pair of goals to lead the Majors to victory over Erie.

IceDogs 9, Petes 1

At Mississauga, Ont., Luca Caputi scored twice and added an assist as the IceDogs rode a four-goal first-period outburst to a victory over Peterborough.

Knights 5, Rangers 4 (SO)

At London, Ont., Matt Halischuk scored all five goals for Kitchener, including one in the shootout, as the Rangers fell to the Knights.
