It's early, but Sam Gagner looks like he could follow in his
dad's footsteps.
The rookie scored and added two assists as the London Knights
dominated the Plymouth Whalers 5-2 in Ontario Hockey League action
Saturday.
``I have confidence in the guys I'm playing with,'' said Gagner,
son of former NHL star Dave Gagner. ``(London head coach) Dale
(Hunter) has given me the chance to prove myself in this league and
I just want to keep it going all season.''
Gagner leads the OHL in scoring with six goals and 22 assists in
just eight games, registering at least two points in each game.
Elsewhere in the OHL on Saturday, it was: Peterborough 2,
Kingston 1; Belleville 3, Guelph 2; Mississauga 5, Owen Sound 2;
Toronto 6, Erie 1; and Sarnia 6, Windsor 0.
Barrie visited Sault Ste. Marie in the night's other game.
At Plymouth, Mich., Patrick Kane and Sergei Kostitsyn each added
a goal and an assist, while Adam Perry and rookie defenceman Tony
DeHart, with his first OHL goal, added singles.
Steve Mason earned the victory, stopping 30 shots.
James Neal and Vern Cooper, with his first career OHL goal,
scored for Plymouth (5-4-0-0). Goalie Michal Neuvirth finished with
25 saves.
The Knights have yet to lose in regulation this season (7-0-0-1).

At Kingston, Ont., Justin Soryal scored both goals for
Peterborough in a victory over the Frontenacs.

At Belleville, Ont., Andrew Self scored two goals, including the
winner, as the Bulls beat Guelph.

At Owen Sound, Ont., Jadran Beljo scored twice to lead
Mississauga to victory over the Attack.
Majors 6, Otters 1
At Erie, Pa., three players got two goals each as Toronto-St.
Michael's blasted the Otters.
Sting 6, Spitfires 0
At Sarnia, Ont., Tomas Pospisil scored twice as the Sting shutout
the Spitfires.
