Rookie Sam Gagner scored once and added
two assists as the visiting London Knights dominated the Plymouth
Whalers 5-2 in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday.
"I have confidence in the guys I'm playing with," said Gagner,
son of former NHL star Dave Gagner. "(London head coach) Dale
(Hunter) has given me the chance to prove myself in this league and
I just want to keep it going all season."
Gagner leads the Ontario Hockey League in scoring with six goals
and 22 assists in just eight games and has notched at least two
points in each contest.
The Knights have yet to lose in regulation this season (7-0-0-1).
Patrick Kane and Sergei Kostitsyn each added a goal and an
assist, while Adam Perry and rookie defenceman Tony DeHart, with his
first OHL goal, added singles.
Steve Mason earned the victory, stopping 30 shots.
James Neal and 2006 first-rounder Vern Cooper, with his first
career goal, scored for Plymouth (5-4-0-0). Goalie Michal Neuvirth
finished with 25 saves.
