Dallas Stars sign defenceman Robidas to three year extension

The Stars signed defenceman Stephane Robidas to a three-year contract extension worth US$4.5 million Wednesday.

Robidas had a career-high 15 assists and 20 points for the Stars in 2005-2006. This season, the 29-year-old has appeared in 27 games and has registered eight assists.

His contract was set to expire at the end of the season.

``Stephane brings a relentless work ethic to the rink each day and has earned his three-year extension,'' Dallas general manager Doug Armstrong said. ``He is a passionate player who is built for the new NHL and we are happy to have him here over the next three-plus seasons.''

Robidas has also played for Montreal (1999-2002) and Chicago (2004). He has appeared in 192 games with Dallas (2002-2004, 2005-present).

In other moves, the Stars activated defenceman Trevor Daley from the injured reserve and placed right wing Antti Miettinen on the injured reserved retroactive to Nov. 30.

Daley has missed the last five games with a concussion and Miettinen is out with a lower body injury.
