Tiger Woods decides to skip Funai Classic tournament at Disney

Tiger Woods decided not to enter the Funai Classic at Disney, keeping one streak in tact and leaving another streak on hold.

Woods missed the cut at Disney last year, so this is the third straight PGA Tour event where he missed the cut and did not return the following year. The others were the 1997 Canadian Open and the 2005 Byron Nelson Championship. That streak is sure to end next year at the U.S. Open, where he missed the cut at Winged Foot for the first time in a major.

As for that other streak?

Woods has won six consecutive starts on the PGA Tour, and it will be at least two weeks before he tries for No. 7. He likely will not play again until the season-ending Tour Championship that starts Nov. 2 at East Lake, although Woods has not said for sure he is playing.

Woods won the Disney Classic in 1996, which enabled him to qualify for the Tour Championship in only seven starts. He also won at Disney in 1999 during a winning streak that reached six events over two years.

This is only the second time in his career Woods has missed Disney. The other time was in 2004, three weeks after he got married.
