PARIS (AP) _ Colin Montgomerie withdrew from this week's French Open because of fatigue.
Montgomerie pulled out because he is exhausted following his loss at the U.S. Open earlier this month, French Open spokeswoman Stephanie Joyeux said Wednesday. The Scot finished one stroke behind Australian Geoff Ogilvy after he double-bogeyed the final hole.
The 43-year-old Montgomerie had been scheduled to take part in the 100th anniversary French Open in his eighth straight week of play. The tournament starts Thursday in Versailles.
He finished fourth in the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles last week, but complained of fatigue after the third round.
