Albert Haynesworth won't face criminal charges for scraping his cleat across the unprotected face of Dallas centre Andre Gurode, and said Thursday he would seek counselling for his behaviour.
But the six-foot-six, 320-pound Tennessee Titans defensive tackle could not answer the one question everyone wants answered: Why?
``It was a blur. It was a big, big mistake and something I wish I could do anything to take that back,'' said Haynesworth, who received a five-game suspension from the NFL.
Haynesworth spoke about an hour after Gurode's agent announced the center won't seek criminal charges against Haynesworth for stomping on his head during Sunday's game.
The five-game suspension is three games longer than the highest previous penalty for on-field behaviour.
Haynesworth said he couldn't appeal because he committed the sin and deserved the punishment. He planned to meet with new NFL commissioner Roger Goodell next week.
