Peyton Manning was back at Colts practice on Thursday, a day after he missed practice for the first time in his nine-year NFL career to attend his grandmother's funeral.
``Peyton was here and, obviously, just doing his best to kind of put things behind him. But we all understand how that is,'' Colts coach Tony Dungy said after a rare closed practice.
Frances Thomas Williams, 86, died Monday in Meridian, Miss. She was the grandmother of Peyton and Eli Manning, the New York Giants quarterback, and the mother-in-law of former New Orleans Saints quarterback Archie Manning.
Dungy said that most of his team was at the workout, which comes during a bye week. The Colts' next game is Oct. 22 at home against the Washington Redskins. The Colts have the rest of the week off before returning for meetings and practice on Monday.
