The Edmonton Eskimos announced Tuesday linebacker A.J. Gass has been fined an unspecified amount by the CFL for kicking Hamilton Tiger-Cats receiver Brock Ralph during a game last weekend.
The Eskimos said they had been informed of the fine early Tuesday, although the league hadn't yet made an official announcement.
In the dying seconds of Hamilton's 27-22 home win over Edmonton on Saturday, Gass became so incensed at a low block by Ralph that he kicked the Ticats receiver.
Ralph had attempted to go low on Edmonton defensive end Adam Braidwood on the final play of the game. That drew the ire of Gass, who on Sept. 8 watched veteran Eskimos defensive back Kelly Wiltshire suffer a potentially career-ending knee injury the result of a low block by Calgary receiver Nik Lewis.
The play before, Hamilton had attempted to run out the clock by having quarterback Jason Maas hit a knee. But when Maas didn't go down immediately, Braidwood overpowered Ralph as he tried to get to Maas.
The Ticats said late Tuesday afternoon the team hadn't been informed by the league that Ralph had been fined.
