EDMONTON (CP) _ The Edmonton Eskimos signed import offensive lineman Damion Cook on Tuesday. The six-foot-four, 325-pounder spent last season with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, starting 10 games. Cook, 28, signed as an undrafted free agent out of college with the Baltimore Ravens in 2001. They moved him from defensive line to offensive line during training camp. He also spent time in the NFL with Baltimore, Chicago, Miami and Cleveland.

The Edmonton Eskimos missed the CFL playoffs this season for the first time in 35 years but that didn't stop the CFL team from giving head coach Danny Maciocia a promotion. The Eskimos made Maciocia their director of football operations, essentially giving him control of all football-related matters with the CFL club. He will also retain the position of head coach, thus ending speculation Maciocia would be fired at season's ...

The Montreal Alouettes came out flat in front of their biggest crowd of the season Saturday in a 30-20 loss to the last-place Edmonton Eskimos, leaving 45,607 fans disappointed at Olympic Stadium. The Alouettes (9-8) can still finish first in the East Division, despite losing eight of their last 10 games, if they beat the Toronto Argonauts (10-7) on the road in the season finale next Saturday. Running back Ron McClendon and quarterbacks Ricky Ray and Steven Jyles each ...

The EE logo of the Edmonton Eskimos stood for Early Exit this year. The longest run of consecutive playoff appearances in North American professional sports came to an end with a 28-25 Toronto Argonauts victory that knocked the reigning Grey Cup champions out of playoff contention Saturday. Edmonton had made it to the CFL playoffs 34 years in a row. ``I'm definitely not feeling very good,'' said quarterback Ricky Ray. ``You feel like you fail and that's what ...

Damon Allen hit Arland Bruce III with two first-half touchdowns as the Toronto Argonauts hung on to beat the Edmonton Eskimos 28-23 on Monday and cement an East Division playoff spot. Allen's TD strikes to Bruce gave the Rogers Centre gathering of 26,891 spectators plenty to cheer about in the first half. But the situation got tense in the second when the defending Grey Cup champions erased a 25-7 deficit ...

The long wait is finally over for John Avery and Ricky Williams. For much of the season, the two former NFL first-round draft picks could only talk about what life might be like with both players in the same backfield. But on Monday both Avery and Williams will be on Toronto's roster for the first time this year and are projected to line up together behind quarterback Damon Allen versus the Edmonton Eskimos at Rogers Centre (CBC, ...

In desperate need of some good fortune to keep their flagging playoff hopes alive, the Edmonton Eskimos head to Toronto this Thanksgiving Monday determined to not let Ricky run, run, run. The Argonauts expect to have both Ricky Williams and John Avery in the backfield for the first time this season when they clash with the Eskimos at Rogers Centre in the first of a home-and-home series (CBC, 4 p.m. ...

Shortly after guiding the Edmonton Eskimos to last year's Grey Cup title, head coach Danny Maciocia celebrated by checking into hospital for a battery of tests. Maciocia felt stressed out and experienced chest pains late in the regular season and wanted medical assurances that his job wasn't causing him medical problems. Fortunately Maciocia received a clean bill of health, giving him some peace of mind this year while his 5-9 ...

Ricky Ray ran eight yards for the winning touchdown with 42 seconds remaining as the Edmonton Eskimos defeated the Saskatchewan Roughriders 30-25 Saturday night. The result restored some hope to the Eskimos' flagging playoff hopes. Edmonton (5-9) would have been closer to the end of its 34-year run of post-season qualification with a loss. Saskatchewan (7-7) remains third in the West Division. Luca Congi had given Saskatchewan a 25-17 lead ...

The Edmonton Eskimos announced Tuesday linebacker A.J. Gass has been fined an unspecified amount by the CFL for kicking Hamilton Tiger-Cats receiver Brock Ralph during a game last weekend. The Eskimos said they had been informed of the fine early Tuesday, although the league hadn't yet made an official announcement. In the dying seconds of Hamilton's 27-22 home win over Edmonton on Saturday, Gass became so incensed at a low ...
