Slotback Geroy Simon, who helped the B.C. Lions earn three victories in four games and clinch a West Division playoff spot, was named the CFL's offensive player of the month for September.
In four games, Simon had 25 catches for 529 yards (21.2-yard average) and four touchdowns for the Lions (10-4), who have the CFL's best record and sit atop the West Division standings. Simon leads the league in receptions (84) and yards (1,554) and is tied with Montreal's Robert Edwards in touchdowns scored (both with 13).
Also considered was running back Joffrey Reynolds of the Calgary Stampeders.
Simon's teammate Otis Floyd was a unanimous selection as defensive player of the month. Floyd had 12 tackles, four sacks, four forced fumbles and one pass knockdown for the Lions.
Lions defensive tackle Tyrone Williams was also a unanimous pick as top lineman. Williams had 17 tackles, two sacks, two pass knockdowns and a forced fumble in four games.
J.R. Ruffin of the Calgary Stampeders was named the top special teams player. Ruffin had 15 kickoff returns for 401 yards, including a 90-yard touchdown, as the Stampeders won three of their five games in September.
Calgary kicker Sandro DeAngelis was a finalist.
