Rob Murphy, in his first CFL season with the B.C. Lions, was named the league's top lineman Thursday night.
The six-foot-five, 310-pound Murphy helped the Lions' offence become one of the league's most prolific. This year, B.C. led the CFL in passing, averaging 292 yards per game, and receiver Geroy Simon was the league's top receiver with 105 catches for 1,856 yards and 15 touchdowns.
B.C. also led the CFL in overall TDs (49) and passing TDs (36).
A native of Buffalo, N.Y., Murphy signed with B.C. after spending time with four NFL clubs between 2000 and '05.
Scott Flory of the Montreal Alouettes was a finalist for the third time, having also been nominated in 2003 as well as last year. The six-foot-four, 300-pound guard, a Regina native, was a CFL all-star in 2002, 2003 and 2005.
