South Africa spinner Johan Botha can resume playing international cricket after remodelling his bowling action.
The International Cricket Council said Tuesday that Botha had done remedial work on his bowling action with the United Cricket Board of South Africa since being suspended on Feb. 7, a day after making his test debut in Australia.
The ICC lifted the suspension after approving an independent reassessment of his action. Botha had been called by umpires for excessive levels of straightening in both his off-break and doosra deliveries.
``However, everyone needs to be aware that no bowler is ever 'cleared' as they could simply revert to bad habits,'' ICC general manager David Richardson said.
If Botha is suspended again for an illegal bowling action within two years of the starting date of his previous ban, he will be automatically banned from international cricket for at least one year.
