KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) _ Knocked out of the World Cup in the first round, India's cricket stars received another blow Thursday when they were fined for a slow over rate in their game against Sri Lanka.
The 69-run loss to the Sri Lankans in Trinidad on Friday meant that Rahul Dravid's team failed to make it to the Super 8s.
But the players were also one over short of a target rate set by the organizers and Dravid has been fined 10 per cent of his match fee and the other players five per cent. No figures were divulged.
Sri Lanka scored 254 for six and India was bowled out for 185 in the penultimate Group B match.
