KING CITY, Ont. (CP) _ John Davison's 53 runs helped lead Canada
to a nine-wicket win over Argentina on Friday in a rain-interrupted
World Cricket League Americas division one match.
Canada picked up the victory through the Duckworth-Lewis method.
The method determines the number of runs that must be scored by the
team batting second in a match interrupted by inclement weather.
Canada had to score 138 runs within 33 overs to win and did so
amassing 140 runs for only one wicket in 21.3 overs.
Captain John Davison led the Canadian batsmen with 53 runs, while
Sandeep Jyoti added 46 runs not out.
Argentina scored 182 runs for eight wickets in 50 overs led by
Alejandro Ferguson's 52 runs.
The win comes off of two recent one-day international losses to
Bermuda last weekend.
Canada's next match in the Americas division one tournament is on
Saturday against the U.S., rekindling the oldest international
rivalry in cricket that dates back to the first match in 1844.
