Australian men vow abstinence from sexual activity for Ashes win

Australian men would go without sex to see their national team beat England in the current Ashes cricket series in Australia, a survey has found.

The survey by men's magazine Zoo Weekly found 41 per cent of its 20,000 respondents would forego sex for a month if it meant Australia regained the Ashes. Four per cent were willing to go without sex for a year if it ensured an Australian win.

Australia leads the five-Test Ashes series 2-0 after winning the first Test at Brisbane, Australia, by 277 runs and the second at Adelaide by six wickets. It can wrap up the series, and take back the Ashes, if it wins the third Test starting at Perth on Thursday.

Captain Andrew Flintoff was rated England's most overrated player by 42 per cent of survey respondents. The all-rounder topped the list from struggling fast bowler Steve Harmison on 25 per cent, opening batsman Andrew Strauss on 16 per cent and middle order batsman Kevin Pietersen on 15 per cent.

Pietersen was named the player Australians most love to hate, gaining 42 per cent of the vote ahead of Flintoff with 23 per cent and Strauss with 16 per cent.

Sixty two per cent of respondents said Shane Warne, the leading wicket-taker in Test cricket with 694 victims, should be knighted.
