Super-middleweight contender Lucian Bute of Montreal pulled out of an Oct. 14 fight card in Denmark on Wednesday with a swollen right hand.
Bute, a southpaw, suffered the minor injury in his eighth-round TKO victory over James Obede Toney of Ghana on Friday at the Bell Centre.
The Romania native was scheduled to fight in the co-feature in Copenhagen behind a title unification bout between WBC champ Markus Beyer of Germany and WBA champ Mikkel Kessler of Denmark, with an eye to challenging the winner for the titles.
Trainer Stephan Larouche said fighting so soon would be an ``unnecessary risk'' and that Bute's next bout would be on a Dec. 1 card at the Bell Centre. His opponent has yet to be announced.
