WBO super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe will defend his title March 3 in Wales against Peter Manfredo Jr., runner-up on the first season of the reality television show ``The Contender.''
Calzaghe (42-0, 31 KOs) is boxing's longest-reigning world champion. The British fighter first won the title in 1997, and his 19 successful defences rank sixth in boxing history.
Manfredo Jr., of Providence, R.I., is 26-3 (12 KOs) and is ranked No. 7 by the WBO and No. 8 by the WBC. ``The Contender,'' which was broadcast in 100 countries, was first shown on NBC and moved to ESPN in its second season.
The fight will be held at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
