Hozumi Hasegawa defeats Genaro Garcia to keep WBC bantamweight title

Japan's Hozumi Hasegawa scored a unanimous decision over Mexico's Genaro Garcia on Monday to retain his WBC bantamweight title.

Hasegawa, who improved to 21-2-0 with seven knockouts, sent Garcia to the canvas in the fourth and eighth rounds with a left uppercut and right hook.

Garcia, who dropped to 35-5-0, opened a cut above Hasegawa's right eye when he accidentally head-butted him in the eighth round, but the Japanese champion continued to score points in the final rounds.

In an earlier bout, Eagle Kyowa of Thailand scored a unanimous decision over Mexican challenger Lorenzo Trejo to hold on to his WBC minimumweight title.
