Rookie Randy Foye added 13 points for the Timberwolves.

Rawle Marshall led Indiana with 17 points. Jermaine O'Neal had 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists, and Stephen Jackson added 11 points.

Foye, a guard from Villanova, had scored just 10 points combined in the Timberwolves' two pre-season games. Against the Pacers, he shot 3-for-5 from the field and made all seven free throws.

Indiana cut Minnesota's lead to 70-68 on Maceo Baston's dunk early in the fourth quarter, but the Timberwolves responded with a 12-0 run to take control of the game. It was Indiana's second straight double-digit home loss in the pre-season.

Jackson, who was charged last week with a felony count of criminal recklessness for firing shots into the air during a fight at a strip club earlier this month, was booed by the home fans each time he entered the game. The crowd cheered for him in the third quarter. He had a nifty reverse layup and a three-pointer and finished with seven points in the period to help the Pacers stay in the game.

Indiana was missing several players. Forward Al Harrington, the leading scorer in the Pacers' two previous pre-season games, did not dress because he was resting. Guard Marquis Daniels sat out with a sore right hamstring and guard Orien Greene sat out with a broken left little finger.

Marshall scored six points in the first quarter to help the Pacers take an 18-17 lead. His best play was a reverse layup with 6:16 left in the quarter that gave Indiana an 11-4 lead.

The Pacers led 45-41 at halftime. Minnesota shot 28 per cent in the first half but stayed in the game by outscoring the Pacers 20-8 from the free throw line. The teams combined for 24 turnovers before the break.
