Dajuan Wagner scores 23 for the Warriors in a 116 106 win over Clippers

Dajuan Wagner scored 23 points and five other players scored in double figures for the Golden State Warriors in a 116-106 pre-season victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday.

Playing the second of three games on three days, the Clippers rested Elton Brand, Cuttino Mobley and Shaun Livingston in preparation for Saturday night's home game against Seattle. Sam Cassell sat out because of a strained left calf and centre Chris Kaman was sidelined by a strained left hamstring.

Yaroslav Korolev led the way for Los Angeles with 25 points and Jawad Williams had 17. Corey Maggette played 27 minutes and missed his first nine shots before converting a late three-point play.

Golden State also was short-handed because of injuries. Jason Richardson is recovering from left knee surgery, centre Troy Murphy has a fractured nose and Baron Davis sat out again because of soreness in his left thigh.

The only Clippers among the starting five who had any significant playing time last season were second-year point guard Daniel Ewing and newly acquired Tim Thomas, who picked up two fouls in the first 62 seconds after shooting 1-for-11 from the field in Thursday night's 91-90 win over the Lakers. Thomas was 5-for-13 against the Warriors and finished with 15 points in 30 minutes.

The Clippers used a 15-point third quarter by Thomas to take an 87-86 lead into the fourth. But the Warriors began the final quarter with a 15-4 run to grab a 101-91 lead. Wagner hit a layup and a 3-pointer 26 seconds apart and Mickael Pietrus capped the rally with a three-point play after getting fouled by Ewing on a fast-break layup.

Los Angeles got no closer than eight points with 3:05 to play.

The Warriors led 61-55 at halftime without any of their players scoring in double figures. The Clippers got 13 in the first half from Korolev, 11 from Williams and 10 from Ewing. James Singleton, the first player off the Clippers' bench, missed all four shots in the half _ but blocked three by Golden State.

Earlier Friday, the Warriors reached a 10-year agreement to sell the naming rights to their arena to Oracle Corp., the San Francisco Bay Area software maker. The Arena at Oakland will be renamed The Oracle under the undisclosed financial terms of the deal, which also includes elements of team sponsorship.
