Joe Johnson scored 22 points with 4 assists, Zaza
Pachulia scored 18 points and Marvin Williams added 13 points and
grabbed nine rebounds to lead Atlanta to a 91-81 exhibition win over
Miami on Saturday night.
Antoine Walker led the defending NBA champion Heat (0-2) with 17
points and 12 rebounds, and Udonis Haslem added 16 points and five
rebounds.
After dropping its Oct. 10 exhibition opener 84-64 to Detroit in
San Juan, Puerto Rico, Miami rested three starters _ Alonzo
Mourning, Gary Payton and Dwyane Wade. Shaquille O'Neal played 18
minutes, scoring nine points.
With Jason Williams recovering from surgery to repair tendinitis
in his right knee and not expected to be available until
mid-November, Miami is looking for a backup point guard. Chris
Quinn, undrafted out of Notre Dame, started and played 30 minutes,
contributing six assists, two rebounds and five points.
Atlanta (2-1) led 50-40 with 1:45 left in the first half.
Shelden Williams, the Hawks' top pick in the 2006 draft, scored
two points while committing three fouls in 18 minutes in the first
half. He scored two points and picked up a fourth foul in the second
half.
