Minor League Baseball sets attendance mark with help from PCL

The Pacific Coast League drew the most fans this season, helping Minor League Baseball set an all-time attendance record of 41,710,357.

The PCL had 7,413,505 fans, and the minors set a record for the third consecutive season with an increase of 377,078 from 2005. Two years ago, the minors drew 39,887,755, breaking a record that had stood for more than 50 years.

Other leagues that set records this year were the Texas League (2,842,013), South Atlantic (3,795,550) and Pioneer (661,624). Ten of the 15 leagues reported attendance increases from last season.

Sacramento (PCL) led all U.S. teams for the seventh straight season with 728,227. Frisco (Texas) led all double-A teams with 580,480; Dayton (Midwest) paced the single-A teams with 582,903; and Brooklyn (New York-Penn) was tops among short-season teams with 289,323.

The records were set among 176 teams in the 14 affiliated domestic leagues in the U.S. and Canada, plus the triple-A Mexican League.
